Bioenergi started producing fuel pellets in 1998 and is today one of Sweden’s largest pellet manufacturers, with a capacity of 95,000 tons of pellets per year. Our fuel pellets are class 1 according to Swedish standards, and by a wide margin.

Bioenergi in Luleå does not have its own sales organization, but all sales of pellets are made via SCA.

Modern tillverkning

Pellet production at Bioenergi takes place in one of Europe’s most modern pellet plants. The factory with 17 employees is located in Aronstorp industrial area, Luleå, near SSAB.

The drying process uses part of the local energy surplus, which means that pellet production can take place with limited environmental impact. The annual production is sufficient to heat around 12,000 houses.

Our owners

Bioenergi is jointly owned by Luleå Energi (91%) and SCA Energy AB (9%).

Luleå Energi AB sells and distributes electricity and district heating, processes biofuel and builds urban networks for data and telecommunications. Operations are mainly concentrated in the municipality of Luleå. The owner is Luleå municipality.

SCA Energy develops renewable energy from forest resources and produces refined and unrefined forest-based biofuels and develops SCA’s wind power assets. SCA Energy is part of SCA’s Forest Products business unit, which produces paper for packaging and printing, pulp, solid-wood products and renewable energy. SCA Forest Products also manages SCA’s large forest holdings and supplies SCA’s Swedish industries with wood raw material and offers cost-efficient transportation solutions.
